Customer Review

I had purchased the Deck Up book shelf with the sole purpose of storing up my ever evolving collection of graphic novels and comics. Quite a few of the oversized hardcovers like the Absolute and the Omnibus editions of DC and Marvel needed a new shelf and thought of going for this book shelf.
Well, unfortunately, though the book shelf does look pretty neat, the sturdiness isn't quite there. The load of the books has caused the shelves to bend a bit, which in turn makes the sliding glass doors coming out of the channel. I have somehow adjusted the glass, but it does requires special care if I need to open them. It is obvious that these book shelves from Deck Up isn't suited to take the load of heavy books. A couple of lighter books and maybe some showpieces, that'll be ideal to store in these shelves. I guess in the price segment of 4k to 5k, one shouldn't expect more.
Lookwise, the shelf is decent enough and the walnut shade goes with the rest of my furnitures in the room. These are shipped in compact long boxes and needs assembly at home. The company doesn't provide free assembly. They do have a tie up with Urbanclap and charges for the assembly is approx 300 bucks. I would definitely recommend this option as the assembly does requires a person with more than average skill set and technical know how. Due to my back issue, a friend of mine volunteered to assemble it for me. Even though he has a good experience in such stuffs, it took almost 45 minutes to get the book shelf assembled. All the necessary items and manual required for assembling is included in the package.
Overall an average bookshelf, I really doubt if it'll survive the tests of time. Recommended for light storage only.
